THE GEORGE
BORROW HOTEL
This is a family run hotel on the outskirts of Ponterwyd, a village
just north of Devil's Bridge and at the western edge of the Cambrian
Mountains, overlooking the Rheidol Gorge. The owners, Rob and Karen
Atkinson and daughter Claire, always offer a warm welcome and personally
supervise every aspect of the hotel. All the bedrooms are en suite.
There are two bars and the restaurant and guest lounge have lovely
views of the surrounding countryside. Instead of a set evening meal
menu, our guests are given an allowance enabling them to select from
an extensive menu. They can choose to exceed the allowance, at extra
cost, or remain within it.
Birdwatching
can be enjoyed from the hotel garden and birds regularly seen include
Red Kites, Buzzards, Ravens, Dippers and Grey Wagtails. A pleasant
walk can be taken along a track which leads down the valley from the
hotel.
The daily Aberystwyth
National Express coach service from London, Birmingham and Shrewsbury
stops at the hotel, arriving in time for dinner.
Several of our guests have chosen to use this service and leave their
cars at home.
"All
the staff at the George Borrow Hotel went out of their way to ensure
my stay was comfortable and memorable; please pass on my thanks to
all concerned for their exceptional service." Mr W (Sussex)
